And guess what?

How Guest Blogging Impacts My Life

Guest blogging was one of the most valuable techniques I utilized to grow my personal brand at the very beginning.

Think of it as a ladder. Start with smaller websites, then work your way up to the top blogs that attract millions of visitors…

I’m sure you can imagine the benefits of your own personal brand!

My Actionable Advice

The question you may ask = How do you find suitable blogs?

Simple. Perform quick searches on Google and Social Media like this:

  • “your niche here” “blog” “tips”
  • “a topic within your niche here” “blog” “guide”

Get in touch with the team members behind these blogs and ask them if they accept guest posts.

Some of those searches may return sites that don’t allow them — that’s when you can apply searches like this:

  • “your niche here” “guest post”
  • “your niche here” “write for us”
  • “your niche here” “blog” “contributor”

How Guest Blogging Impacts My Life

Guest blogging has been by far the best investment I’ve ever made in promoting my content and building a strong brand for myself.

Not only does guest posting give me access to my target readers exactly where they already exist on other websites, but it boosts my own credibility and helps me leverage more guest posts on even higher authority websites—as well as helping me to land columns on major business publications.

My Actionable Advice

My advice to anyone brand new with guest blogging is to skip all of the tricky tactics and complicated email templates involved in trying to land a guest post.

Instead, focus your efforts on building meaningful relationships with as many bloggers, editors, and marketers as you can—at reputable brands, websites and publications. Then once you’ve delivered some sort of upfront value to those people, you can make your ask to guest post.

In my experience, the strongest, most long-lasting relationships have come from those that are built upon the foundation of providing value without immediately expecting something in return. Focus on the quality of your relationships and it will pay dividends in the future.

How Guest Blogging Impacts My Life

I’ve reaped numerous benefits: Guest posting to relevant publications drives leads. Sharing content on these publications helps me to drive the traffic to my website (It helps to improve my SEO).

My Actionable Advice

A quick search shows the outlets that your target audience refers to for industry advice. Reach out to the editor and get a contributory column.

Regularly contributing content creates brand visibility, brand recall, and enhances your reputation and credibility as a thought leader. Authoritative publications in your industry have a set of loyal readers.

4. Alex Limberg

How Guest Blogging Impacts My Life

When I was starting out as a blogger, guest posting was by far my most successful tactic to gain subscribers for me. You can’t do SEO effectively if you have no audience to start with, and some other tactics didn’t work either, but guest posting did. I definitely recommend every blogger try it out as their first main strategy.

My Actionable Advice

There is a lot to say, but I will give you something that’s not obvious for beginners: When you choose the blogs to target in your niche, your first criteria shouldn’t be blog size, but how many COMMENTS the posts on that blog get. The number of comments shows you how attached of an audience that blog has, and how likely it is they will follow recommendations and links on that blog.

Always choose smaller blogs that are exactly in your niche with a lot of comments over bigger (even huge)blogs that have very few comments.

You can also go to similarweb.com and do a free search on the blog in question; it’s free. Look under “Traffic Sources.” The more direct traffic and the less SEO traffic a blog has, the more useful it usually is for guest posting. Readers who find a blog over SEO are just much less likely to get engaged with its links (or to even return, for that matter).

How Guest Blogging Impacts My Life

It’s always a tough task to convince your prospects about your eligibility and that’s exactly where your best guest posts come to rescue.

When I was just starting out as a freelance writer, my guest posts helped me to land all my clients. I didn’t have many articles online but just a few. I started with medium level websites to get my works published and then eventually tried upon the bigger ones.

My Actionable Advice

The best advice is to start with one particular niche even for guest posting. Also, if you’re a newbie you can’t expect to directly land up the high DA websites but you’ll need to start from the mediocre ones.

Medium is a great platform, where you can easily find publications to submit your guest posts.

How Guest Blogging Impacts My Life

I used guest blogging when I started. I think it’s still a good way to get traffic, build an email list, and become an authority.

My Actionable Advice

My advice is to make it easy for the editor to publish your article. So that’s why I always like to send the whole article. Plus, include a short bio, links to your website and social, and a headshot.
